Today, limestone production in West Virginia exceeds 10 million tons per year, with much of that coming from Greer Limestone, a highly advanced mining operation with over 500 million tons of quality limestone reserves. Limestone is used for asphaltic concrete and concrete production, metallurgical flux, cement, agricultural lime, and construction aggregate and ballast. The best quality limestone is used as rock dust and for chemical purposes in manufacturing.
With four facilities, Greer Limestone is uniquely positioned to provide excellent product diversity and meet customers most demanding product specifica-tions while also providing an assured supply of quality material. The recently acquired Cheat River Limestone facility increases the available tonnage for our local area while extending our coverage area to the South.
Greer Limestone provides shipment of product by rail, barge, and truck to fit customers’ specific needs.
